TRAJECTORY

ORIGIN

In 1996, Maestro Weimar Escobar brought EXPRESO LATINO, a Latin Jazz ensemble, to life with the purpose of participating in the first Jazz festival organized by the University of EAFIT in the city of Medellín. Since then, his presence in cultural events and festivals has not only been remarkable locally but has also transcended borders, taking his music to countries such as Canada and the United States.

In 2018, with a solidly defined musical concept enriched by artistic maturity, Maestro Escobar decided to revitalize his instrumental format. The transformation included the addition of trombones and trumpets, expanding the ensemble and giving rise to a new vibrant and expressive sound. This change, reflecting a clear symphonic intentionality, resulted in diverse instrumental colors and increased orchestral depth. It not only marked an evolution in his compositional work but also led to the adoption of a new name: WAES EXPRESS BAND. Since then, this emblematic band has continued its trajectory, carrying with it the unique essence that distinguishes it in every performance. WAES EXPRESS BAND. Since then, this emblematic band has continued its trajectory, carrying with it the unique essence that distinguishes it in every performance.
