2. Preparation of Sequences, Transcriptions and Musical Arrangements

2.1 Sequence

DefinitionRecording the instrumental parts corresponding to a musical creation, carried out through a synthesizer or workstation.

2.2 Transcription

Capture and writing of a musical creation, being fundamental and essential a broad and at the same time specific musical knowledge, expressed in three different fields of musical training: musical grammar, basic concepts of orchestration and composition and a highly sensitive and perceptive ear, which allow us to make a copy equal to or as close as possible to the original.

2.3 Arrangement

Musical creation on a non-original melodic line or theme, giving freedom to the person who performs it to musically recreate said theme from another perspective or concept, here from harmony, rhythm, instrumentation, style and the same melodic interpretation will give a new touch presenting the original theme in a new packaging and thus specifying a new version or expression of it.

Sheet music formats

  • “Particella” musical writing for an instrument “Lead Sheet” synthesized score where the instrumental or vocal melodic guide is expressed, obligatory melodic or rhythmic harmonics and a cipher as a harmonic indication for the accompaniment.

  • Score score where the entire orchestral work appears, clearly divided by instrumental sections, which expresses the detailed and general idea of the composer or arranger. It is basically the musical director of an orchestra or producer who makes use of it to have a global vision of the work and be able to make the necessary adjustments and interpretive indications.

  • Score by sections a score that expresses a particular section of instruments per family: voices (choral), strings, winds or brass, or a harmonic rhythm section consisting of piano, bass and drums, for example.

4. Jazz Foundation

  • Functional harmony (encryption)

  • Basic principles to develop improvisation.

Guidance to apply these contents in the elaboration of arrangements, in the reading of scores and musical scores of different popular genres and in instrumental performance.

Modality: Practical theoretical workshop, aimed at music students in the instrumental area.
